SHARING THE LOVE
book a workshop with the exhibition artist

“SHARING THE LOVE” is a workshop offering a presentation by the Artist, John Brookes, on the rationale and choices behind ‘Unconditional’, with opportunities for attendees to discuss and critique the Exhibition and more...
Attendees will be encouraged to use this as a starting point for group discussion their own experiences and expressions of love, and how they would seek / have sought to represent these through art; with reasons for their chosen media, imagery etc. This will be widened out into a debate on the process, positives and pitfalls of expressing one's personal emotions in a public forum.
Attendees can bring along any existing relevant artwork on the theme of love to augment the discussion, either their own work or an image that has touched them in some way. There will also be ample opportunity to create a piece during the Workshop based on the group discussions. Materials will be provided by Tuggeranong Arts, as well as the use of an easel, whiteboard and high-quality photography of created works.
Attendees, facilitated by the artist, are encouraged to work with peers within the workshop group. Creations made before or during the Workshops will feature as part of the Exhibition itself alongside other public submissions, as part of the “Sharing the Love” element of the Exhibition. See link for more details..
John Brookes, the artist states: “As a viewer of these works visitors have, in my opinion, a role equal to my own in giving these meaning. Works and motifs I see as positive may cause negative reactions among some and vice versa; some may feel that I have failed to depict their own unique concept of love.
“To that end I wholeheartedly invite you to attend one of my workshops on what love means to you – feeling free to express yourself ( in a safe space) in terms of interpretation, experience and media used (anything encouraged except AI images!) .
At the end of each Workshop attendees will receive a high quality Workshop Pack, with key points captured by the artist with exclusive artist notes on the exhibition and the arts theories behind the images, along with a high resolution A4 print of any works created during the Workshop session. These Workshops are made possible by a very generous Tuggeranong Arts Centre, supported by ArtsACT. Click button below to Book a Workshop (3 dates available)
